In addition to having its own reference scheme for assigning ESG ratings, our body operates as a guarantee element in the validation, verification and certification of other ESG schemes offered by the market.
The financial world and the banking system are particularly interested in ESG ratings and ESG claims due to the impact they have on the application of "harmonised rules for financial market participants and financial advisers on transparency with regard to the integration of sustainability risks and the consideration of adverse sustainability impacts in their processes and the provision of sustainability‐related information with respect to financial products" (Reg. EU 2088/2019).
Moreover, ESG Ratings allow companies to interface with the banking system and provide the necessary information for access to credit, as explicitly required by the EBA Guidelines.
Finally, the increase of the number of subjects concerned with the CSRD Directive will require the involved companies, including small to mid size enterprises listed on any regulated market, to undertake an assessment of their supply chain.
